Hamilton reveals 2021 negotiations key in securing HUGE 2025 career move

Lewis Hamilton has unveiled that negotiations from 2021 laid the groundwork for a significant career move he’ll make in 2025. As the seven-time Formula 1 champion approaches his final three races with Mercedes, he’s set to join Ferrari in a much-anticipated switch that marks a pivotal step in his career. The move will offer Hamilton a new opportunity to compete for a record-breaking eighth world championship—a title he narrowly missed in a controversial finish to the 2021 season in Abu Dhabi.

The British driver’s career has seen some challenging years since 2022, following changes in F1 regulations that affected Mercedes’ overall performance. Hamilton endured the longest winless period of his career between the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and the 2023 British Grand Prix, where he claimed his 104th career victory. He added his 105th win shortly after, during the Belgian Grand Prix, a positive turn amid Mercedes’ struggle to compete with dominant teams like Red Bull.

While Hamilton’s focus has remained on Formula 1, his off-track ambitions have also grown. Recently, he was announced as one of the co-chairs for the 2024 Met Gala, which will center on the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The role signifies Hamilton’s expanding influence in the fashion industry—a passion he has developed alongside his racing career. He revealed that discussions about the position had been underway since 2021, when he hosted a table at the Met Gala and connected with its organizing team.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Hamilton shared how the idea emerged from that initial encounter at the 2021 event. “The idea came about when I hosted a table back in 2021’s Met Gala,” Hamilton recalled. “I was introduced to the team, and we started having conversations about what it could look like in the future if we were to do it.” At the time, he expressed enthusiasm about the potential collaboration, though nothing was confirmed. Reflecting on the journey, Hamilton said he was thrilled to finally receive the offer to serve as a co-chair. “Honestly, I was just over the moon,” he added.

The position at the Met Gala underscores Hamilton’s growing interest in using his platform to champion diversity and inclusion in the fashion world. Known for his bold style and advocacy for representation, Hamilton has frequently spotlighted Black designers and other creatives through various projects. His role as a Met Gala co-chair allows him to further influence and celebrate Black culture and style within the prestigious event.

As Hamilton looks ahead to 2025, both his move to Ferrari and his continued involvement in fashion signal a new chapter in his multifaceted career. He aims to make the most of his final races with Mercedes, knowing that the upcoming season will be his last with the team that has played a crucial role in his success. Ferrari, on the other hand, represents a fresh challenge and a new opportunity for Hamilton to pursue his eighth world championship, a goal that has remained elusive since his contentious 2021 season.

Hamilton’s passion for racing and his expanding ventures in fashion highlight his versatility and enduring appeal beyond the Formula 1 track. Whether in pursuit of another championship or making waves in the fashion industry, Hamilton continues to push boundaries and make his mark in multiple arenas. His move to Ferrari, as well as his role in the 2024 Met Gala, reflect his drive to evolve and explore new opportunities—both in motorsport and beyond.
