Christian Horner Hits Back at ‘Nonsense’ Max …read more
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has dismissed ongoing speculation surrounding Max Verstappen’s potential departure from the team, branding recent exit rumors as “complete nonsense.”
Reports in recent weeks have suggested Verstappen could be looking for a way out of Red Bull amidst internal team tensions and ongoing developments in the F1 driver market. However, Horner has moved swiftly to quash those claims, reiterating the Dutch driver’s commitment to the reigning Constructors’ Champions.
“Frankly, it’s complete nonsense,” Horner told reporters ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. “Max is fully committed to the team. He’s driving better than ever, and there’s absolutely no indication from him or his camp that he wants to leave. The rumors are just that—rumors.”
Speculation around Verstappen’s future intensified after reports hinted at possible interest from rival teams, particularly Mercedes, who are undergoing a transitional period following Lewis Hamilton’s departure to Ferrari earlier this year.
Horner stressed the strength of Red Bull’s relationship with Verstappen, noting the long-term contract that ties the three-time world champion to the Milton Keynes-based outfit through 2028.
“Max has grown up with this team. We’ve achieved a lot together, and we’re building something even stronger for the future. The idea that he’s looking elsewhere mid-contract doesn’t match reality,” Horner added.
Verstappen himself has remained tight-lipped about the speculation but has consistently emphasized his focus on performance and securing Red Bull’s dominance in the 2025 season.
Red Bull currently leads both championships, with Verstappen topping the drivers’ standings after seven rounds. The team will be aiming to extend its advantage in Montreal amid growing external noise that Horner insists won’t distract their title charge.
