Celtic are confident of securing a deal for Norwich City striker Adam Idah within the next few days, after raising their bid to £6 million.
The Scottish champions had their initial £4 million offer rejected in July, leading to concerns among fans that Idah, who impressed on loan at Celtic last season, might not return.
Norwich City coach Johannes Hoff Thorup recently stated that Idah was focused on the new Championship season, emphasizing that the ongoing transfer window could lead to unexpected developments.
Despite Idah’s professional attitude, HITC reports that the 23-year-old striker has expressed a strong desire to move permanently to Celtic.
While other clubs have shown interest in Idah, he is reportedly only keen on joining Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Celtic’s new bid is said to be around £6 million, including add-ons, although Norwich is holding out for closer to £8 million.
However, both clubs are expected to find a middle ground, with a deal potentially being finalized soon.
Idah made a significant impact during his loan spell at Celtic in the latter half of the 2023/24 season, scoring nine goals in 19 games, including a crucial last-minute winner against Rangers in the Scottish Cup final.
Brendan Rodgers has been vocal about his admiration for Idah, calling him “absolutely immense” after the Old Firm victory.
Rodgers is keen to bolster Celtic’s attacking options, with Kyogo Furuhashi currently the only senior striker at the club following Oh Hyeon-Gyu’s transfer to Genk.
Rodgers previously expressed his preference for having three strikers, lamenting the departure of young talent Rocco Vata to Watford, which disrupted his plans.
Celtic had also explored alternatives, including Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland, during the initial difficulties in securing Idah. Additionally, the club has been linked with Michel Ange Balikshwisha of Royal Antwerp.
Despite these options, Idah remains the primary target, with Celtic hopeful that an agreement with Norwich will be reached shortly.
