Celtic and Leeds United may have the opportunity to… Raed more.

Celtic and Leeds United may have the opportunity to secure a permanent deal for a left-back they have been pursuing this summer, as opposed to a loan arrangement, according to reports from the Daily Record. Both clubs are eyeing Liverpool’s Owen Beck, who spent the previous season on loan at Dundee and is now a target for Brendan Rodgers at Celtic Park and Daniel Farke at Leeds United.

Brendan Rodgers is in the market for additional competition at left-back for Greg Taylor, with the Scottish champions aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of a challenging season. Leeds United, managed by Daniel Farke, is also looking to bolster their defensive options, particularly with the long Championship season on the horizon. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their squad as they seek promotion back to the Premier League, and a left-back is one of the positions Farke is prioritizing.

Owen Beck, who has caught the attention of both clubs, could be available on a permanent transfer this summer. Initially, it was believed that Liverpool would send the 22-year-old out on loan again, as he continues to develop his career away from Anfield. However, recent developments suggest that Liverpool might be open to selling Beck outright if a suitable offer comes in. The Merseyside club has been focusing on selling several of their young talents, with Fabio Carvalho already transferred to Brentford and Bobby Clark potentially on his way to Red Bull Salzburg.

This shift in Liverpool’s approach provides an opportunity for Celtic and Leeds to secure Beck on a permanent basis, should they meet the club’s valuation of the player. Beck’s performances during his loan spell at Dundee have drawn attention, making him a desirable addition for clubs looking to strengthen their left-back position. Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough is also reportedly interested in Beck, adding another potential suitor to the mix.

The decision now rests on which club is willing to meet Liverpool’s demands and whether Beck sees a permanent move away from Anfield as the best step for his career. Celtic, with the allure of Champions League football, and Leeds, with the promise of a pivotal role in their promotion push, both present appealing options. As the transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see which club emerges as the frontrunner for Beck’s signature, and whether Liverpool opts to cash in on their young prospect.
