Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Levi Kitchen grabbed

At the Yamaha Budds Creek National Presented by Call 855 Treeman, Haiden Deegan of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing won the 250 Class title and the coveted Gary Jones Cup, making him the newest champion in American motocross history. The competition was sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing and took place during the penultimate round of the 2024 Pro Motocross Championship. The 10th round of the summer saw Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider and points leader Chase Sexton secure his fifth straight 450 Class victory to move one step closer to the Edison Dye Cup, while Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Levi Kitchen grabbed his third. The morning’s rain gave way to partly sunny skies with high temperatures and high humidity for a challenging afternoon at Southern Maryland’s Budds Creek Motocross Park.

Kitchen now has three wins in the last four races, including back-to-back in the previous two rounds, thanks to his 3-1 finishes. This is his third career triumph. While Deegan managed to secure the final podium position overall in third place (1–10), Vialle secured his third runner-up result of the season (2–3).

In his second season of full-time competition, Deegan became the 35th different rider in 53 Pro Motocross seasons to win the Gary Jones Cup for the 250 Class title. Through ten rounds, he has five victories to his credit and has placed third in all but one of the races. During the season’s first 20 races, he has also garnered nine moto wins.

Although Kitchen and Vialle are still tied for second place in the championship with 14 points separating them going into the last round, Deegan has secured the season title.

Sexton’s 2-1 effort continued his dominance run with his fifth straight victory and his sixth of the season, necessitating a tiebreaker to decide the overall winner for the second week in a row. Lawrence had to make do with his sixth runner-up finish of the summer (1-2), which included consecutive tiebreakers.

Sexton only led five laps during the afternoon, while Lawrence led 25—all in the second moto. Plessinger completed the podium with a 3-3 score to increase his run to three.

Lawrence is the only rider who has mathematically qualified for the championship, and Sexton leads him by 28 points going into the penultimate round. Plessinger is 95 points behind Sexton in third place.
