Neil Lennon Rapid credentials brutalised as Celtic boss won titles ‘because Rangers didn’t exis

Eugen Neagoe, a former Rapid Bucharest player, has launched a scathing attack on Neil Lennon’s managerial abilities, claiming that his successes at Celtic were solely due to the absence of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.

Neagoe believes that Lennon’s achievements in Glasgow were hollow, as Celtic were effectively playing in a one-horse race without their traditional rivals.

Neagoe’s criticism comes after Lennon’s brief and unsuccessful stint as Rapid Bucharest manager, during which he failed to win any of his first six matches.

The Romanian legend predicted that Lennon would not last long in the job, citing his lack of knowledge about Romanian football.

Neagoe also drew on his own experiences playing for Omonia Nicosia, where Lennon previously managed, to question his tactical acumen.

He claimed that Lennon’s tenure at Omonia was disappointing and that his former colleagues were unimpressed with his management style.

Neagoe’s harshest criticism, however, was reserved for Lennon’s time at Celtic. He dismissed his trophy wins as meaningless, given the lack of competition from Rangers.

Neagoe’s comments are likely to spark debate among Celtic fans, who hold Lennon in high regard for his achievements at the club.

Despite his harsh words, Neagoe did acknowledge Lennon’s passion for the game, but ultimately concluded that his managerial abilities are not suited to the Romanian league.

The criticism from Neagoe adds to the pressure on Lennon, who is still seeking to revive his managerial career after a series of setbacks.
