Leeds United will seek to strengthen this area

According to Phil Hay, Georginio Rutter would have preferred if he had scored more than two goals in the Championship this year for Leeds United.

The French striker has been on fire so far this season, contributing to seven goals and setting up 33 opportunities for his colleagues. However, he has occasionally had trouble finishing his own opportunities, as seen by the fact that he has only scored twice in 13 games.

Leeds has scored 24 goals between them as a team, but even though Hay has lauded the player’s efforts, he feels there is still space for development. The team’s recognized striker has been outperformed by players like Joel Piroe, Dan James, and Crysencio Summerville.

He stated, “The more and more that I look at Rutter, particularly the creative side of his game, he’s not scoring a huge number of goals and I think for a number nine you’d want more than two for this stage of the season,” on the Square Ball Podcast on October 30, 3:50.

Especially considering Leeds have scored 24 goals in the Championship thus far, but he is just unmatched in his ability to read the game and perceive his surroundings.

“He appears to be one step ahead of everyone in terms of both his positioning and cognitive processes.”

Hay’s comments on Rutter make it evident that he does not view this as a major problem for the striker, who is more than making up for his own lack of goal danger this season with his creative side of the game.

But sooner rather than later, the Frenchman has to start contributing a few more goals. After all, he was brought in for a club record £35.5 million [Sky Sports] with the intention of leading the Whites to Premier League safety, so he will be expected to score in the Championship.

His problems in front of goal haven’t mattered much just now because anything Summerville touches ends up in the goal, and Piroe did the same thing before that. However, Rutter will eventually have to bail the Whites out of a jam.
