At the Ballon d’Or event, Real Madrid striker won the Kopa Trophy.
After receiving the Kopa Trophy, which goes to the finest player in international football under the age of 21, Jude Bellingham’s meteoric ascent continued.
The 20-year-old midfielder for Real Madrid and England, who placed 18th for the main prize, accepted the medal during the Ballon d’Or competition in France.
Since coming to Madrid in the summer, Bellingham has scored 13 goals in 13 games, including a double that helped Real Madrid defeat Barcelona in his first El Clasico on Saturday.
Bellingham won the Kopa Trophy for his performance in the previous season, which saw him lead Borussia Dortmund to the second-place finish in the Bundesliga and shine for England at the World Cup in Qatar.
“I simply want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me along the way, starting with Birmingham, moving on to Dortmund, Real Madrid, and the national team,” he remarked.
“Many thanks for your support; there will be more to come.”
Bellingham’s Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga was in the top five, along were previous winners Gavi and Pedri from Barcelona.
After sharing a room with Bellingham throughout their time together in the England youth setup, Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich finished second.
The only other English player to ever place in the top three was Jadon Sancho of Manchester United, who took second place in 2019 while playing for Dortmund. Bellingham had been second in 2021.
