An attacker for Everton is set to depart in January.
Arnaut Danjuma, an attacker for Everton, may already be preparing to leave Goodison Park quickly following another Sean Dyche rejection against Crystal Palace.
The Dutchman was forced to watch again as the Toffees defeated the Seagulls in a dramatic Premier League match at Selhurst Park on Saturday (November 11), thanks to a late goal from replacement Idrissa Gueye.
With 14 points from 12 games, Everton is now eight points above the drop zone and has only lost once in their last five games in all competitions.
Danjuma could feel that he isn’t playing a major role in the Toffees’ remarkable comeback in recent weeks, given that he has been limited to bench duty for the majority of the year.
This season, the Dutchman has only been given four league starts, which include their disappointing loss to Wolves, their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United (where he scored), and their defeat to Arsenal.
After a disappointing loan move at Tottenham last season, Danjuma’s move to Goodison was meant to be his chance to revive his career; nevertheless, it appears that trend is continuing in Liverpool.
On November 1, Dyche did give him a rare start in their 3-0 EFL Cup victory over Burnley at Goodison Park.
The Netherlands international, though, did not have the desired effect.
During his 68 minutes on the field, the former Villarreal player did not show much.
He only made 17 touches during the game, and his pass accuracy was only 71%, according to Sofascore.
In addition, he was unsuccessful in his lone effort at a ground duel and made no tangible contribution to Dyche’s side.
Speaking at a press conference prior to Everton’s 1-1 draw with Brighton, the manager offered the justification that Danjuma’s difficulties were reasonable considering his insufficient playing time, according to Liverpool ECHO (2 November).
The Dutchman, who was substituted in when Everton was led 2-1, may have believed he might have made a difference versus Palace on Saturday, but instead he had to watch Gueye make the game-winning goal.
Then, Dyche substituted Beto for Calvert-Lewin rather than Danjuma, which is sure to have infuriated him.
The Dutchman may soon get another opportunity to start, but with only a few weeks left in the January transfer window, it’s possible that he has already made arrangements to leave Everton and look for a chance to play for a first team somewhere else.
