Red Bull team DEMOTED after FIA confirmation o…read more

Red Bull Racing has encountered a significant challenge following the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, despite a triumphant victory by Max Verstappen. The FIA has confirmed the updated 2024 Formula 1 standings, which show Red Bull’s demotion amid what has been a difficult season for the team.

At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Verstappen broke an eleven-race winless streak with an extraordinary performance. Starting from P17 on the grid due to both qualifying struggles and an engine penalty issued by the FIA, the 27-year-old Dutchman showcased his world-class driving talent by fighting his way through the field to claim his first victory in several months. This drive was a crucial moment for Verstappen, who expressed rare emotion on the podium, highlighting how much the win meant to both him and the team. The victory signaled a much-needed return to form, though Red Bull’s overall struggles remain evident.

This season has been anything but easy for Red Bull Racing. While they were dominant in previous years, the 2024 season has been plagued by various technical and competitive challenges, which have seen them lose ground to rivals like McLaren and Ferrari. Verstappen’s win in Brazil, while impressive, was a brief respite in what has been a turbulent campaign for the team.

In terms of the championship standings, Verstappen’s victory gave him a significant cushion over his nearest rival, McLaren’s Lando Norris. Norris has been Verstappen’s primary competitor throughout this season but now finds himself trailing by 62 points. With only a few races left in the season, this gap makes it increasingly unlikely that Norris will be able to mount a successful challenge for the Drivers’ Championship. McLaren, who once harbored hopes of securing both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships, now face an uphill battle to realize that dream.

Charles Leclerc, who currently holds third place in the championship standings, also experienced a tough weekend in Brazil. Ferrari, which has shown flashes of competitiveness this season, struggled to find pace at the Interlagos circuit. Leclerc’s performance in Brazil fell short of what was needed to gain ground on the championship leaders. His title chances now appear slim, as Ferrari continues to face issues with consistency, despite some improvements throughout the year.

Red Bull Racing’s challenges, however, go beyond just the drivers’ standings. Despite Verstappen’s impressive victory in Brazil, the FIA’s updated standings revealed that the team has been demoted in the Constructors’ Championship. While the exact reasons for this demotion have not been fully disclosed, it underscores the difficulties Red Bull has faced in maintaining their once-dominant position at the top of Formula 1.

This season, McLaren and Ferrari have emerged as serious threats, with both teams showing significant improvement in terms of pace and strategy. As the season nears its conclusion, Red Bull will need to focus on securing strong results in the remaining races if they hope to recover some of their lost ground.

The Brazilian Grand Prix offered Red Bull a glimpse of hope in what has otherwise been a frustrating year. Verstappen’s return to the top step of the podium showcased the team’s potential, but the FIA’s confirmation of their standings demotion serves as a reminder that Red Bull still faces considerable obstacles. The final races of the season will be critical for the team as they aim to finish on a positive note, but they will need to address the lingering issues if they want to remain competitive in the fast-evolving landscape of Formula 1.
