Toto Wolff has acknowledged that the cold conditions at the Las Vegas Grand Prix played a crucial role in Mercedes’ surprising victory, where George Russell dominated from pole position, earning his third career win. Lewis Hamilton made an impressive comeback from a disappointing 10th place in qualifying to secure Mercedes’ first one-two finish since the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix.
Russell expressed his astonishment at the team’s performance, describing the weekend as a “dream.” He admitted that he was unsure how they had managed to achieve such speed, saying, “I don’t know how we’ve been so quick, but I’m just riding this wave right now.” Hamilton echoed this sentiment, conceding that the team was uncertain about the reasons behind their pace, noting that the W15 felt better than ever in Las Vegas.
Mercedes’ proficiency in generating optimal tire temperatures has been credited for their performance, which has been consistent in cooler conditions throughout the season, including victories in Britain and Belgium.
