Esteban Ocon has officially concluded his time with Alpine following a challenging weekend at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. The French driver’s tenure with the team ended on a disappointing note, as his race came to an abrupt halt on the opening lap. Ocon was forced to retire after a collision with Haas driver Nico Hülkenberg, marking a frustrating DNF in what would be his final race for Alpine.

Ocon’s departure from the team comes ahead of his move to Haas for the 2025 Formula 1 season, a transfer that had been previously announced. Despite the premature end to his Qatar GP, Ocon expressed gratitude for his time at Alpine and looked ahead to the next chapter of his career with Haas.

Meanwhile, Alpine wasted no time in confirming Ocon’s replacement. Rising talent Jack Doohan, who had already been announced as the team’s full-time driver for the 2025 season, will step into the seat earlier than expected. Doohan is set to make his Formula 1 race debut with Alpine at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix next weekend.

Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz broke the news that Alpine decided to accelerate the timeline for Doohan’s debut following Ocon’s early departure. The team reportedly sees this as an opportunity for the young Australian to gain valuable race experience before stepping into his new role full-time next year.

As Ocon transitions to Haas, Alpine turns its focus to nurturing its future with Doohan, who is eager to showcase his potential. The Abu Dhabi GP will mark the start of a new era for the team as it looks to rebuild and move forward in 2025.
