Red Bull Racing has confirmed a change in its driver lineup for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the 2024 Formula 1 season. The Yas Marina Circuit will host the season finale, with several key battles still to be decided, including the fight for the Constructors’ Championship and a competitive contest for sixth place in the standings.

Key Battles in the Season Finale
The Constructors’ Championship showdown between McLaren and Ferrari promises to be a highlight of the weekend, as the two teams go head-to-head for the prestigious title. Meanwhile, Alpine, currently holding sixth place, will fend off Haas in a closely contested battle for standings. Red Bull’s junior team is also in the spotlight, entering the race in eighth place and making strategic moves to prepare for the future.

Ayumu Iwasa Steps In for FP1
In preparation for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Red Bull’s junior team has opted to make a notable adjustment to their lineup for Friday’s first practice session (FP1). Promising young talent Ayumu Iwasa will take over Yuki Tsunoda’s seat for the session. The Japanese driver previously made his Formula 1 debut during FP1 at the Japanese Grand Prix earlier this season, replacing Daniel Ricciardo. Iwasa impressed with his performance at Suzuka, driving alongside Tsunoda.

This time, Iwasa will be measured against another young talent, Liam Lawson, during FP1 before handing the car back to Tsunoda for the remainder of the weekend. At just 23 years old, Iwasa has made a name for himself with strong performances in Formula 2 and the Super Formula series over the past two years. His potential has earned him recognition as one of motorsport’s rising stars.

A Big Opportunity for Iwasa
Taking to his social media account, Iwasa expressed his excitement about returning to the cockpit, stating, “Very, very excited to jump in VCARB 01 again this weekend!” For Iwasa, this opportunity is another chance to showcase his talent in a highly competitive environment.

As the Formula 1 season draws to a close, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix provides teams and drivers one last chance to make an impact. For Iwasa, it is an invaluable opportunity to solidify his place among Formula 1’s future prospects.
