Team boss REVEALED for Cadillac F1 team
Formula 1’s newest team, Cadillac, has announced Graeme Lowdon as its team principal ahead of their debut in 2026.
The announcement comes as the current F1 season heads toward an exciting conclusion at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where McLaren and Ferrari are locked in a tight battle for the constructors’ championship.
McLaren currently holds a 21-point lead over Ferrari, adding to the drama of the season finale.
This year has showcased significant progress for Formula 1, highlighted by competitive battles and Max Verstappen securing his fourth championship title in Las Vegas.
The season has also been marked by McLaren’s Lando Norris putting up a spirited challenge for the drivers’ championship and the intense rivalry between McLaren and Ferrari for the constructors’ crown.
In November, F1 confirmed that General Motors would join the grid in 2026 under the Cadillac brand, marking a significant expansion of the sport.
Cadillac aims to establish itself as a works team, with plans to develop its own engines in the future.
Since the announcement, speculation has grown regarding the team’s driver lineup and initial engine supplier.
The appointment of Graeme Lowdon as team principal represents Cadillac’s first major step in building its F1 project.
Lowdon, a former Marussia sporting director, brings extensive experience to the role, having previously advised General Motors on their F1 venture and played a key role in managing Zhou Guanyu’s career.
Lowdon expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m truly honoured to be appointed as the Team Principal of this exciting new team.
Formula 1 is the greatest team sport, and it’s all about people.
This team has a genuine passion for racing and the expertise to succeed. I look forward to the challenge and have immense respect for the competition ahead.”
Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Global’s motorsport division, praised Lowdon’s credentials: “Graeme has been advising our team for the last two years as we’ve built our operations.
His experience in both technical and managerial aspects of motorsport will be invaluable as he leads the Cadillac Formula 1 team.”
The announcement solidifies Cadillac’s intent to make a strong entry into Formula 1, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive and exciting addition to the grid in 2026.
