Hamilton reveals EMOTIONAL Mercedes farewell surprise
Lewis Hamilton has shared his emotional experience following a heartfelt farewell surprise organized by Mercedes ahead of his final Formula 1 race with the team.
The seven-time world champion participated in his last race for Mercedes at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marking the end of a legendary partnership before his move to Ferrari in 2025.
Hamilton’s time at Mercedes includes an extraordinary legacy of six drivers’ championships between 2014 and 2020.
However, a dip in the team’s performance in recent seasons prompted the 39-year-old to seek a fresh challenge with Ferrari in pursuit of a record-breaking eighth world title.
As a parting gesture, Mercedes arranged for Hamilton to revisit his career milestones by driving three of his iconic cars at Silverstone: the 2013 W04, the 2014 W05, and the 2018 W09.
The surprise brought a wave of nostalgia for Hamilton, who shared his feelings in an emotional video posted on X.
Reflecting on the experience, Hamilton revealed that he was unaware of the surprise. “I woke up thinking we’d just be driving some AMG cars.
When I arrived and saw the signs and the three cars in the garage, it was a shock—I wasn’t expecting to drive Formula 1 cars today,” he said.
Hamilton described the thrill of stepping into the W04, his first Mercedes car, which brought back vivid memories of his 2013 test at Jerez.
Moving on to the W05, the car that powered him to his first championship with Mercedes, Hamilton reflected on the emotions of joining the team amid doubts about his decision.
He noted the shift in the car’s technology, from the V8 engine in the W04 to the hybrid V6 in the W05, highlighting the evolution that led to their domination.
The surprise allowed Hamilton to relive key moments of his career with Mercedes, celebrating the journey and the bond he shared with the team.
The gesture underscored the depth of their relationship as he prepared to embark on a new chapter with Ferrari.
