Schumacher RETURN announced after major F1 news emerges
Mick Schumacher has solidified his racing plans for 2025 following confirmation of his departure from Mercedes’ Formula 1 team.
Schumacher, the son of legendary F1 driver Michael Schumacher, previously raced for Haas in 2021 and 2022 before taking on a reserve driver role with Mercedes, supporting Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
While fulfilling his F1 duties, Schumacher also competed in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with Alpine.
With the announcement that he will no longer be part of Mercedes’ setup next season, it has been revealed that Schumacher will return to Alpine’s WEC lineup for 2025.
Despite efforts to secure a full-time seat in Formula 1, Schumacher appears to have shifted his focus toward endurance racing.
Reflecting on his renewed commitment to Alpine’s WEC program, the former Formula 2 champion expressed his excitement about continuing with the team.
“I’m thrilled to remain part of Alpine’s Endurance racing journey,” Schumacher shared on his social media platform.
“Our first year together was a great foundation, and I’m committed to helping the program achieve even better results in our second season.
We’ve identified key areas to improve, and I’m eager to get back on track.”
In 2024, Schumacher competed in eight races with Alpine’s #36 car, showing steady improvement as the season progressed.
The highlight of the season came in September at the 6 Hours of Fuji, where Schumacher and his teammates secured a podium finish by claiming third place.
Looking ahead, both Schumacher and Alpine are aiming for even greater success in the upcoming WEC campaign.
With the team’s performance trending upward, there is optimism for further podium finishes and potentially more significant achievements.
Although his F1 future remains uncertain, Schumacher’s growing presence in endurance racing signals a new chapter in his career, as he aims to make a lasting impact in the competitive world of sports car racing.
