Ferrari Announces Major Changes and New Partnership for……..read more

Ferrari has announced several significant developments in its Formula 1 operations, with a focus on both personnel and technical partnerships. These changes are set to shape the team’s future heading into the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

A major shift is coming to Ferrari’s driver lineup in 2025, as seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to join the iconic Scuderia team. Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has been confirmed in an official statement, signaling a major new chapter for both the driver and the team. The 2024 season is expected to be a pivotal year as Ferrari continues to fight for the top spots in the championship. Ferrari narrowly missed out on the Constructors’ Championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with a penalty for Charles Leclerc and a victory by McLaren’s Lando Norris handing the title to McLaren. As a result, Ferrari is already preparing for a fresh approach to return to championship contention in 2025, with Hamilton’s experience and skill potentially offering the team a valuable edge. The partnership with Hamilton will span several years, continuing into the new era of F1 regulations set to take effect in 2026.

The 2026 season will also bring significant changes to Formula 1, notably the introduction of a new team. General Motors-backed Cadillac, in collaboration with Andretti Autosport, will enter the grid, marking a historic expansion to 11 teams. Cadillac’s arrival is expected to add another layer of competition in the championship and increase the sport’s visibility in the United States. Ferrari’s role in this expansion has been confirmed with the announcement of a new partnership with Andretti Formula Racing. Starting in 2026, Ferrari will supply power units and gearboxes to Andretti’s new F1 team under a multi-year agreement. This collaboration will see Ferrari deepen its involvement with the American team, offering its expertise and technology to help the team succeed on the grid.

In addition to Andretti, Ferrari will continue to supply its power units to other teams on the grid, specifically its current customer team, Haas F1. Ferrari has already established itself as a major supplier of power units and technical expertise to multiple teams, and this new partnership with Cadillac will further cement that position. With Cadillac using Ferrari’s machinery in 2026, they will become the third team on the grid to benefit from Ferrari’s cutting-edge technology, joining the works team and Haas F1.

However, another key aspect of the 2026 season is that Sauber, another team previously using Ferrari engines, will transition to using Audi power units. This shift is a result of Audi’s involvement in F1 as part of a larger strategy to enter the sport. Despite this, Ferrari’s commitment to its customer teams remains strong, as emphasized by Ferrari’s Team Principal, Fred Vasseur. Vasseur welcomed the new partnership with Cadillac, stating that it was an exciting development for both Ferrari and the wider F1 community. He specifically highlighted the importance of the growing popularity of F1 in the United States, noting that this collaboration with an American team marks a strategic move to align Ferrari with the expanding F1 fanbase in the U.S.

Vasseur also acknowledged the technical benefits of having two customer teams using Ferrari power units. This arrangement allows for enhanced collaboration and technical development, which benefits Ferrari’s own racing program. As the Scuderia looks to reclaim its place at the top of the F1 standings, having multiple teams using its technology is expected to provide valuable feedback and accelerate the development of the Ferrari power units.

The partnership with Andretti and Cadillac is a significant milestone in Ferrari’s long history in F1. Ferrari’s ability to work with other teams to develop competitive engines while also advancing its own capabilities has been a hallmark of its success. With the 2026 regulation changes on the horizon, this new technical collaboration is a forward-thinking move designed to position Ferrari as a leader in both racing and technical innovation in Formula 1.

Looking ahead, the combination of Lewis Hamilton’s arrival in 2025 and the new partnership with Cadillac in 2026 signals Ferrari’s ambition to not only compete at the highest level but to solidify its position as a key player in the future of Formula 1. These developments mark a new era for the team, with new challenges and opportunities on the horizon. Ferrari’s commitment to innovation, partnerships, and championship aspirations is stronger than ever as they prepare for the changes that will shape the future of Formula 1 racing.
