Breaking: Ricciardo Red Bull UPDATE emerges after F1…read more
Daniel Ricciardo, a celebrated eight-time Formula 1 race winner, experienced a challenging conclusion to his F1 career, marked by exits from McLaren and later Red Bull.
After being replaced by Oscar Piastri at McLaren for the 2023 season, Ricciardo returned to Red Bull as a reserve driver. His F1 journey took another turn in mid-2024 when he was given a chance to race for Red Bull’s sister team, VCARB (formerly AlphaTauri), replacing Nick de Vries.
However, Ricciardo struggled to recapture his past form. He consistently lagged behind teammate Yuki Tsunoda, with one of his lowest points being a P18 finish at the Singapore Grand Prix. These underwhelming performances led to his replacement by Liam Lawson for the remainder of the season.
Despite this, Red Bull boss Christian Horner expressed admiration for Ricciardo’s legacy and contributions. Horner noted that Ricciardo would always be welcome at Red Bull in roles outside racing, such as marketing or ambassadorship, emphasizing the Australian driver’s enduring popularity and strong connection to the brand. He also hinted that Ricciardo might explore opportunities in the United States if he chose to pursue a different path in motorsport.
While Horner’s comments seemed optimistic, Ricciardo has not maintained ties with Red Bull since stepping away from F1. Speculation arose in German media that the incoming Cadillac F1 team might offer Ricciardo a seat. However, the Australian quashed these rumors in a viral TikTok video, where he bluntly responded to a fan’s question about joining Cadillac with, “Nah, I’m done,” seemingly confirming his departure from Formula 1 for good.
Ricciardo’s F1 career may have ended on a challenging note, but his legacy as a vibrant and talented driver continues to resonate both on and off the track.
