Mercedes announce RETURN of driver after title heartbreak
Mercedes-AMG has confirmed the return of Doriane Pin to the F1 Academy for the 2025 season, following an impressive debut year in the all-female series.
The announcement comes after a challenging 2024 Formula 1 season for Mercedes, during which they won four Grands Prix but fell short of competing for the constructors’ title.
Despite this, the team showcased its rising talent, including Kimi Antonelli’s promotion to the 2025 F1 grid and Pin’s remarkable performances in the F1 Academy.
In her rookie season, Pin finished as runner-up in the 2024 F1 Academy championship, just behind British driver Abbi Pulling.
For 2025, she will once again represent Mercedes-AMG and compete with PREMA Racing, who manage the team’s car in the series.
The 20-year-old is determined to build on her debut season and aim for the drivers’ title next year.
“I’m excited to continue this journey with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Iron Dames,” said Pin.
“After becoming vice champion in my first season, I’m highly motivated to go for the title in 2025. I’ll work hard over the winter to improve and aim for an even stronger season.”
Mercedes driver development advisor Gwen Lagrue praised Pin’s progress in transitioning from GT and endurance racing to single-seaters, noting her strong performances in multiple championships.
“Finishing second in her first season is an outstanding achievement. Given her growth this year, we’re confident she can fight for the F1 Academy title in 2025,” Lagrue stated.
The 2025 F1 Academy season will feature seven support rounds alongside Formula 1 races, taking place in China, Saudi Arabia, Miami, Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore, and Las Vegas.
As Pin continues her development, Mercedes and Iron Dames are committed to supporting her in achieving success next year.
