Max Verstappen Makes Bold Claim on Late Red Bull Founder Amid Horner Investigation

Max Verstappen has stated that the late Red Bull founder, Dietrich Mateschitz, would have resolved the Christian Horner investigation “very quickly.” The four-time world champion’s comments come as he reflects on the internal turmoil Red Bull Racing faced earlier in 2024.

The investigation into Horner, launched by Red Bull GmbH, followed allegations of improper behavior made by a female employee. Horner denied the claims, and the company ultimately decided no further action was necessary. However, the matter caused significant tension within the organization, with Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, openly calling for Horner’s removal.

Speaking to Swiss outlet *Blick*, Verstappen expressed confidence that Mateschitz, who passed away in 2022, would have handled the situation with decisiveness.

“Of course, it was not pretty,” Verstappen said. “But I maintain that this matter would have been resolved very quickly with Dietrich Mateschitz.”

The Dutch driver’s remarks highlight the late founder’s influential leadership style and the sense of stability he brought to Red Bull Racing during his tenure.

Tensions Within Red Bull

Although the investigation concluded without action, the fallout exposed internal divisions. Verstappen, whose future with the team remains a topic of speculation, continues to emphasize the importance of Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s longtime motorsport advisor, in his decision to remain with the team.

“I am happy with where I am, and one of my conditions is always the same: Helmut Marko has to stay,” Verstappen reiterated.

Marko, a close ally of both Verstappen and the late Mateschitz, has been pivotal in Red Bull’s success and Verstappen’s rise to prominence in Formula 1.

While Red Bull Racing continues to move forward, Verstappen’s comments underline the lasting impact of Mateschitz on the team’s culture and decision-making. As the 2025 season approaches, the stability of key relationships within the team will be critical to maintaining Red Bull’s competitive edge and securing Verstappen’s long-term commitment.

With Verstappen and Red Bull still dominant on track, these behind-the-scenes dynamics add another layer of intrigue to the team’s journey in the ever-competitive world of Formula 1.
