Red Bull chief Horner delivers Verstappen EXIT statement

Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has downplayed rumors about Max Verstappen’s future, reaffirming the Dutch driver’s commitment to the team despite recent speculation. Verstappen, who claimed his fourth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship in 2024, faced a tougher fight this season due to increased competition from McLaren and Ferrari.

The 2024 season saw a departure from Red Bull’s dominance in 2023, as teams like McLaren, led by Lando Norris, pushed Verstappen harder for the title. Although Red Bull ultimately secured the championship, the closer battles fueled discussions about Verstappen’s potential move to other teams.

Mercedes emerged as a rumored destination following Lewis Hamilton’s retirement at the end of 2023. However, Mercedes opted to promote Kimi Antonelli, ending immediate speculation. Meanwhile, Aston Martin became another potential suitor after hiring Adrian Newey, the former Red Bull technical mastermind, signaling their ambitions to compete for titles in the coming years.

Horner, however, remains confident in Verstappen’s loyalty. “Max has been clear about his commitment to Red Bull,” Horner told Autosport. “He trusts the team and enjoys working with everyone here. That connection is key to his happiness.”

Acknowledging Verstappen’s appeal to rival teams, Horner added, “It’s no surprise other team principals would want Max. But as long as we provide a competitive car and the right environment, I see no reason for him to leave.”

Verstappen’s current contract with Red Bull runs through 2028, reflecting a long-term commitment. Horner emphasized that Red Bull’s priority is maintaining a winning package to keep Verstappen satisfied. “Our job is to ensure Max has the tools to succeed. If we deliver that, he’ll stay loyal to this team,” Horner said.

Having been part of Red Bull since 2016, Verstappen has cemented his status as one of F1’s most dominant drivers, breaking records and contributing to the team’s continued success.

While teams like Aston Martin may aim to lure Verstappen in the future, Horner’s confidence highlights the strong bond between driver and team. With increasing competition from McLaren and Ferrari, Red Bull remains focused on delivering innovation and performance to stay at the forefront of Formula 1, ensuring Verstappen remains central to their plans.
