Stroll REPLACEMENT verdict delivered after….read more

Lance Stroll’s future at Aston Martin has come under scrutiny following the team’s recent driver announcements for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The team is gearing up for a major overhaul, with the anticipated arrival of Adrian Newey, the design genius from Red Bull, and a new team principal as part of a restructuring. Aston Martin, who had a disappointing 2024 season finishing fifth in the Constructors’ Championship without a podium finish, is hopeful of turning their fortunes around in 2025.

The 2024 season was marked by a significant disparity in performance between Stroll and his teammate, Fernando Alonso. While Alonso, the two-time world champion, finished a solid ninth in the Drivers’ Championship with 70 points, Stroll struggled with just 24 points, ending up 13th. In contrast, during the 2023 season, Alonso had a much stronger showing, securing eight podium finishes and finishing fourth overall. Stroll’s performance that year was still underwhelming, as he placed 10th with 74 points. This ongoing gap in results has fueled speculation about Stroll’s long-term future with the team, even though his father, Lawrence Stroll, is the team’s owner.

Despite Stroll being on a rolling contract, many believe his position could be under threat. One potential candidate for a full-time seat is Felipe Drugovich, Aston Martin’s reserve driver since 2022. The Brazilian, who won the 2022 Formula 2 championship, has worked closely with the team during practice sessions but has yet to make his F1 race debut. His recent re-signing for the 2025 season has sparked further discussion about his future in Formula 1.

A recent poll conducted by GP Fans revealed overwhelming support for Drugovich to be promoted to a full-time seat. A staggering 98% of fans believe he should replace Stroll and partner Alonso for the 2025 season, while the remaining 2% think he should replace Alonso instead. Notably, zero percent of respondents voted against Drugovich being given a seat with the team, highlighting the growing belief among fans that the Brazilian is a more capable alternative to Stroll.

As the 2025 season approaches, it seems that Aston Martin’s leadership and fans alike are keen to see a change in the driver lineup, particularly with the team’s ambitious plans for the future. If Drugovich is promoted, it would mark a significant shift for Aston Martin as they seek to recover from a disappointing 2024 campaign and make strides toward the top of the grid.
