SHOCK Verstappen to Aston Martin verdict delivered
A surprising new development has emerged regarding the future of Max Verstappen, suggesting the possibility of him switching to Aston Martin. Although the four-time world champion’s current contract with Red Bull runs until 2028, rumors have been circulating about a potential early move to another team. These speculations, however, have been swiftly addressed by both Verstappen’s camp and Aston Martin.
In response to the rumors, Verstappen’s team offered a succinct comment, saying “that’s nice,” indicating they don’t take the speculation seriously. Meanwhile, Aston Martin denied the claims outright, stating that their current driver lineup would remain unchanged, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll continuing as their main drivers.
Despite these denials, interest in a potential switch remains, largely because of the major regulatory changes coming to Formula 1 in the near future. Verstappen has publicly stated that he is content with Red Bull and intends to evaluate the team’s performance after the new regulations are introduced in 2026, which will bring in new rules, including the integration of partly electric engines. These changes could shake up the competitive landscape, making it uncertain whether Red Bull will maintain their dominant position.
According to Amber Brantsen, a presenter at Viaplay who signed a deal with Verstappen in 2022, the real possibility of a switch could happen around 2027. Speaking on the Dutch TV show Goedmorgen Nederland, Brantsen emphasized that Verstappen is fiercely competitive and always wants to be at the top of his game. However, she pointed out that if Red Bull’s dominance wanes due to the rule changes and other teams, like Aston Martin, find an edge, Verstappen might consider moving teams.
Brantsen also highlighted the broader context of Formula 1, with many teams anticipating that the new regulations could allow for a more even playing field, giving them a chance to challenge Red Bull’s supremacy. She speculated that, while Verstappen is happy with Red Bull for now, the major changes in 2026 could prompt him to reassess his position in the sport. If Red Bull struggles in the new era, it could open the door for Verstappen to explore other options, such as Aston Martin, who have shown growing potential in recent seasons, especially with the addition of technical director Dan Fallows and the impressive performance of Alonso.
However, Brantsen remains cautious, acknowledging that any move would likely not happen in the short term. “I don’t think Verstappen will move to Aston Martin next year,” she said, adding that the situation is fluid and could change depending on how the upcoming regulations impact the teams. Nevertheless, Brantsen did not rule out the possibility of Verstappen making the switch after 2026, potentially as soon as 2027 if the right conditions arise.
For now, the idea of Max Verstappen joining Aston Martin remains speculative, but the future of Formula 1 and the shifting dynamics post-2026 could make this scenario more plausible.
