Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Poster Gaffe Features Lewis Hamilton in Mercedes Gear

In a rather amusing turn of events, the organizers of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix have been caught in a blunder involving none other than Formula 1 icon Lewis Hamilton. Despite one of the most talked-about moves in recent F1 history—Hamilton’s switch from Mercedes to Ferrari—somehow, the message didn’t get through to everyone.

A promotional poster for the 2025 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was recently spotted featuring Hamilton still clad in his Mercedes racing suit, completely ignoring his high-profile transfer to Ferrari over the winter break. The mistake didn’t go unnoticed. Belgian journalist Gaetan Vigneron shared an image of the poster on social media, highlighting what has become a rather embarrassing oversight for the event’s promoters.

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari was among the biggest stories during the offseason, plastered all over social media and news platforms. So, seeing him represented as a Mercedes driver at this stage of the season—four races in—is not just an error, but an eyebrow-raising one. It’s led many fans and observers to wonder how such a mistake could still happen.

Of course, there are a few possible explanations for the slip-up. The promotional material may have been designed and finalized well before Hamilton’s switch was announced, and simply never updated. Alternatively, the designers might have reused templates from previous years without double-checking the details. Or perhaps someone in the design team is still emotionally attached to the sight of Hamilton in silver and black, where he won six of his seven world championships.

Regardless of how it happened, the mishap has sparked amusement across the F1 community. While it may be an innocent mistake, some fans have jokingly suggested there could be a deeper, more symbolic meaning behind it. Could the outdated image serve as a subtle reminder—or warning—to Hamilton about the consequences of leaving Mercedes?

So far, the 2025 season hasn’t gone quite as planned for Ferrari. The team has struggled with performance issues and has not been able to mount a serious challenge for race wins. In contrast, George Russell at Mercedes has already claimed three podium finishes and remains in contention for the championship. Mercedes, known for their strategic mastery of regulation changes, are also expected to be strong contenders in 2026 when new rules come into effect—much like they dominated the early hybrid era beginning in 2014.

This has led to some light-hearted speculation that Hamilton might already be regretting his switch. While there’s no sign that he’s unhappy with Ferrari publicly, the contrasting performances between his new and former teams could add pressure as the season progresses.

Still, it’s highly unlikely the Saudi GP poster was meant to carry such profound implications. Most likely, it was just a case of someone grabbing the wrong image file or failing to update a design in time. But in a sport as image-conscious and detail-driven as Formula 1, even the smallest mistakes can turn into viral moments.

Whether the mistake is symbolic or just a slip, it has at least provided a humorous moment for fans during a tense and competitive F1 season.
