Lewis Hamilton Scraps Personal Plans to Refocus Ahead of Miami Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton has revealed he’s cancelling his scheduled plans for the upcoming week following a difficult showing at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Originally intending to use the break between races to relax, the seven-time world champion now says he’ll dedicate the time to resolving ongoing issues with his Ferrari.

Hamilton had approached the Jeddah weekend hopeful, believing recent progress in Bahrain would help elevate his performance. But that confidence didn’t translate into results he struggled throughout practice, qualified in seventh, and ultimately finished in the same position, behind Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc and Mercedes newcomer Kimi Antonelli.

“It was a terrible day in terms of performance,” Hamilton admitted. “I had zero pace, and there were problems with the car. I was expecting more. I won’t be taking time off I’ve got a work week ahead. I’ll have to cancel my plans.”

Hamilton’s adaptation to Ferrari has proven challenging, especially compared to fellow drivers who have transitioned to new teams more smoothly. His current form leaves him seventh in the Drivers’ Championship, 16 points behind Leclerc and a distant 68 points from leader Oscar Piastri.

“I’ll probably struggle in Miami, too,” Hamilton said. “I don’t know how long this will continue, but it’s been tough. Right now, there’s no clear solution, so this could be how it is for the rest of the season. It’s not easy.”

Despite the setbacks, Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has backed Hamilton completely. “We’re behind him 2000 percent,” Vasseur said. “He’s a true racer who always wants more. We’ll work together to find answers.”

Pointing to Hamilton’s strong moments this year including his sprint win in China Vasseur added, “The car has potential. We need to fix the balance and tyre management. I understand his frustration his teammate is on the podium and he’s not but we’re in this fight as one team.”

Now, Hamilton turns his focus to Miami, where he’ll aim to regroup and reignite his championship hopes.
