F1 champion confirmed for stunning team return after…read more

A legendary four-time Formula 1 World Champion is set to make a thrilling return this summer, reuniting with one of the most iconic cars in motorsport history. Alain Prost, one of the sport’s most decorated drivers, will be a major highlight at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, as the event joins in the celebrations of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary.

Prost, famously known as “The Professor” for his calculated driving style, made history by becoming the first F1 driver to surpass 50 race wins and held the record for most fastest laps (41) at the time of his retirement. Goodwood has confirmed that Prost will take part in the festival’s festivities over two days, where he will pilot the legendary McLaren MP4/4—the car that dominated the 1988 F1 season, winning 15 out of 16 races between Prost and his fierce rival Ayrton Senna.

Prost’s return will be a key part of the festival’s tribute to Formula 1’s rich legacy. The Frenchman’s famous rivalry with Senna is still regarded as one of the sport’s most intense and memorable. Their fierce battles, including controversial clashes that decided the championships in 1989 and 1990, have become an enduring chapter in F1 history.

Reflecting on his lifelong connection with Senna, Prost recently shared how their rivalry continues to impact him even today. “I can’t help but think about Ayrton, whether that’s good or bad,” he said. “I even considered shutting down my Instagram because I receive messages about him every single day—sometimes even negative ones.” Despite their turbulent relationship on track, Prost acknowledged the strong following he has from Brazilian fans, largely due to his link with Senna, stating that this connection will likely be a permanent part of his life.

Goodwood organizers expressed their excitement in a statement, saying, “Alain Prost’s attendance will be a major feature of the F1 75 celebrations at this year’s Festival of Speed. He’ll be joining us on Saturday, July 12th, and Sunday, July 13th, where he will tackle the Hill in the iconic McLaren MP4/4. Prost drove this car to victory at the Mexican, Monaco, and French Grands Prix in 1988.”

Prost’s appearance is set to be a nostalgic and thrilling moment for motorsport fans, bringing a piece of F1 history roaring back to life at one of the world’s most celebrated automotive events
