Charles Leclerc Uncovers Surprising Similarity with Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari

Charles Leclerc has revealed his surprise at finding a striking similarity in driving style with new Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton.

After leaving Mercedes following a dominant 12-year run, Hamilton has now completed five races with Ferrari. Despite high expectations, the team has endured a rocky start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, with Leclerc’s podium finish in Saudi Arabia being their sole highlight so far.

While Ferrari works on improving their performance, Leclerc spoke about how quickly he and Hamilton have gelled behind the scenes. Speaking to the media,  Leclerc admitted he didn’t anticipate how closely aligned their driving approaches would be.

“It’s definitely easier when both drivers are asking for the same things from the car,” Leclerc explained. “I was really surprised by how similarly Lewis and I tackle corner entries.”

The Monegasque star, now in his seventh season with the Scuderia, noted that both he and Hamilton are aggressive into corners, meaning they naturally seek the same balance and behavior from the car.

“I didn’t expect that when Lewis arrived,” he added. “We’re both quite aggressive when entering corners, so our feedback to the engineers is very similar.”

Leclerc also downplayed concerns over adapting driving styles to suit the car’s handling, suggesting that there’s usually sufficient flexibility within the setup to cater to individual needs.

“There’s a lot of talk about driving style,” he said. “But honestly, the car setup usually offers enough freedom for everyone. It doesn’t change things massively.”

Despite Ferrari’s early season struggles  which Leclerc described as taking the car’s development in an “extreme” direction  the strong alignment between their two drivers could prove crucial as the team fights to get back to the front of the grid.

With both Hamilton and Leclerc united in what they want from the SF-25, Ferrari will be hoping their shared understanding can spark a resurgence as the season moves forward.
