Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 world champion, has announced the birth of his first child with partner Kelly Piquet. The couple welcomed a baby girl named Lily on May 1, 2025, just hours before the Miami Grand Prix weekend commenced. Verstappen shared the joyful news on social media, writing, “Welcome to the world, sweet Lily. Our hearts are fuller than ever — you are our greatest gift. We love you so much.”

In light of Lily’s arrival, Verstappen missed Thursday’s media day at the Miami Grand Prix to be present for the birth. However, he arrived in Miami on Friday and is set to participate in all scheduled events, including practice sessions, sprint qualifying, the sprint race, and the main Grand Prix.

Kelly Piquet, daughter of three-time F1 world champion Nelson Piquet, has a daughter, Penelope, from a previous relationship with former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat. This is the first child for Verstappen, who has been in a relationship with Piquet since 2020.

Verstappen currently stands third in the 2025 F1 Drivers’ Championship standings, trailing Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. As the Miami Grand Prix unfolds, fans and fellow drivers have extended their congratulations to Verstappen and Piquet on their new addition to the family.
