Max Versttapen and Antonelli Involved in Shocking Pit Lane Collision During Miami Sprint

A dramatic and costly incident marred the Miami Grand Prix sprint race this weekend, as reigning four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen and Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli were involved in a significant collision in the pit lane.

The controversial moment occurred when Red Bull released Verstappen from his pit stop directly into the path of the approaching Antonelli. The resulting impact sent debris flying across the pit lane and immediately drew criticism.

“That was always going to happen,” commented Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz, labeling the incident “the definition of an unsafe release.” He added, “Red Bull released Verstappen right into Antonelli’s way, and he’s taken off his front wing! What were they thinking?”

Despite the significant contact, Antonelli was able to continue in the sprint race, albeit with visible damage to his car. However, Verstappen’s race was ended prematurely as a result of the collision.

The FIA has taken note of the incident, with Red Bull facing scrutiny for what appears to be an unsafe release. An official investigation is now underway.

This unexpected turn of events has injected further drama into the Miami Grand Prix weekend and could have implications for both drivers’ races and the championship battle. The focus now shifts to the FIA’s findings and the potential penalties that may follow.
