F1 LIVE: Alonso destroys car as Antonelli fumes at Verstappen after crash…Read more

The Miami Grand Prix Sprint race was packed with high drama as Fernando Alonso suffered a heavy crash, while 18-year-old sensation Kimi Antonelli lashed out at Max Verstappen following a tense on-track collision.

Veteran driver Alonso brought out the red flag early in the session after he lost control in Turn 7 and slammed into the barriers. The Aston Martin was left badly damaged, with the front suspension destroyed and the rear wing torn off. Fortunately, Alonso walked away unharmed, though visibly frustrated as his race ended prematurely.

“We were pushing, but I just lost it — no warning at all,” Alonso said. “It’s a shame, the car was feeling strong up until that moment.”

Meanwhile, the bigger fireworks came later in the race when Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli made contact in a heated battle for position. Antonelli, who had qualified on pole for the Sprint, was holding his own against the reigning world champion before the two tangled in Turn 11, sending the young Italian wide and costing him valuable positions.

A furious Antonelli made his feelings known over team radio, accusing Verstappen of being overly aggressive.

“He just turned in like I wasn’t there,” Antonelli fumed. “It was reckless.”

Verstappen defended the move, claiming it was a racing incident. The stewards have yet to announce any penalties.

The clash has sparked major conversation in the paddock, especially as Antonelli is widely tipped to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes in 2025. Many see this as a glimpse of a future rivalry between the rising star and the reigning champion.

With tensions running high, all eyes now shift to the main race — where rivalries may reignite and redemption will be on the line.
