BREAKING: FIA Issues Penalty Verdict for Lewis Hamilton After Miami GP C…read more

The FIA has officially announced its decision regarding Lewis Hamilton’s late-race incident at the Miami Grand Prix, ending hours of post-race uncertainty and fan speculation. The Mercedes driver has been penalized five seconds for his role in a collision with McLaren’s Lando Norris, a move that alters the final standings and tightens the championship race.

In a statement released late Sunday evening, Formula 1’s governing body concluded that Hamilton was “predominantly at fault” after a detailed review of video evidence, telemetry, and team radio. The contact occurred in the closing stages of the race and had immediate implications for both drivers.

As a result of the penalty, Hamilton’s finishing position has been revised from fifth to seventh, costing him crucial championship points as the 2025 season intensifies. Mercedes has confirmed it will not appeal the decision, with Team Principal Toto Wolff stating: “While we’re disappointed, we respect the stewards’ ruling and will focus on bouncing back stronger at the next round.”

Hamilton responded to the ruling with a mix of accountability and frustration: “It was a tough fight out there. I didn’t see Lando coming up the inside, but I’ll take responsibility and move on. There’s still a long season ahead.”

The Miami Grand Prix, ultimately won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, has added more fuel to what is already a fiercely contested 2025 title battle. Hamilton, now representing Ferrari as their lead driver, faces mounting pressure heading into the next round at Imola — a circuit known for drama, unpredictability, and championship-defining moments.

With rival teams gaining momentum and every point becoming more critical, all eyes will be on how Hamilton responds in Italy.
