Leading scorer Elijah Adebayo may miss the entire season due to a setback in his attempt to recover from a hamstring injury, according to Luton manager Rob Edwards.
The 26-year-old has scored nine Premier League goals for the Hatters this season, including seven in his past nine top division games. During the 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, he also scored the club’s first hat-trick at this level in over 20 years. He did, however, withdraw from the 2-1 loss to Manchester United prior to kickoff, meaning he has missed Town’s last six games across all competitions. Without him, Luton has lost five of those games and drawn one.

Even though Luton has scored 10 goals since Adebayo’s injury—two of which have come from Carlton Morris—Edwards acknowledges that his team’s chances of making it up are severely diminished without him. He continues, “At the moment we are scoring goals, that is one silver lining to that, but we want our best players available and available for selection.” Eli helps us defend set pieces and sets that press in addition to helping us offensively. You are aware of his significance to us, so his absence is significant.
