Vettel F1 Return Verdict Declared as Doohan’s Alpine R…read more

Speculation surrounding Sebastian Vettel’s potential return to Formula 1 has taken a definitive turn as the four-time world champion addressed recent rumors linking him with a comeback. Speaking during a motorsport event in Monaco, Vettel firmly downplayed the possibility of rejoining the F1 grid in the near future, stating, “I miss the competition, but I’m happy with where I am right now.” The statement quashes hopes of a sensational return amid ongoing shake-ups in the driver market.

Meanwhile, Alpine’s plans for the 2025 season have taken a new twist with rising Australian talent Jack Doohan no longer seen as the frontrunner to replace either Esteban Ocon or Pierre Gasly. Despite consistent performances in F2 and his ongoing role as Alpine’s reserve driver, recent reports suggest the team is now exploring more experienced options to stabilize their struggling campaign.

Sources within the paddock indicate that Alpine has initiated talks with multiple current and former F1 drivers, including Mick Schumacher and Valtteri Bottas, as they look for a dependable presence to guide their development. The shift in approach may come as a surprise given the team’s previous commitment to promoting from within and nurturing young talent.

Team Principal Bruno Famin has remained tight-lipped about the final decision but acknowledged the pressure to produce results. “We are evaluating all possibilities. Our focus is on building a strong foundation for the future,” he said.

With Vettel’s return now firmly off the table and Alpine’s next move uncertain, the F1 driver market remains in flux. Doohan may still feature in the team’s long-term plans, but his immediate future appears more complicated as Alpine reassesses its strategic direction ahead of a critical rebuild
