Max Verstappen Granted FIA Approval to Miss F1 …read more

Max Verstappen was officially allowed by the FIA and Red Bull Racing to skip his media obligations ahead of the Miami Grand Prix so he could stay with his partner, Kelly Piquet, during the anticipated arrival of their first child. The Dutch driver arrived in Miami late Thursday aboard his private Falcon 8X jet, just in time for the race weekend. Despite missing pre-race press activities, Verstappen retained clearance to compete as usual.

This personal milestone comes during a turbulent season for Red Bull. The team has been grappling with technical challenges, including braking issues during the Bahrain Grand Prix that required regulatory intervention. On top of that, Verstappen has voiced concerns over internal decisions, notably regarding teammate changes such as the early replacement of Liam Lawson.

There is growing speculation about Verstappen’s long-term commitment to Red Bull. Reports suggest his contract contains a performance clause allowing an early exit if he drops below third in the Drivers’ Championship standings. This has fueled rumors of potential moves to rival teams. Aston Martin, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is said to be preparing a major offer to lure him away.

Despite the uncertainty, Verstappen appears unfazed by the speculation. He has publicly stated he feels “very relaxed” about his future and remains focused on helping his team improve the car’s performance and results.

As the 2025 Formula 1 season unfolds, Verstappen’s choices—both on and off the track—will continue to draw attention, given his pivotal role in the sport’s competitive balance.
