Lewis Hamilton Reportedly Left “unhappy”after…read more

Seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton was reportedly left less than pleased during a memorable shared experience with fellow British driver George Russell, his former Mercedes team-mate. Though the pair achieved notable milestones together on the F1 circuit, an off-track incident involving a snack has come to light and provided some unexpected humor — albeit with a touch of tension.

Hamilton and Russell raced alongside each other for Mercedes from 2022 through the 2024 season. During that time, they battled against Red Bull’s dominant form and secured five Grand Prix wins between them in the famous Silver Arrows cars. Despite the challenges of competing against the formidable Red Bull team, their partnership was seen as a strong one, balancing Hamilton’s experience with Russell’s youthful energy.

However, their time as team-mates came to an end when Hamilton made the headline-grabbing move to Ferrari for the 2025 season, marking a new chapter in his legendary career. Russell, on the other hand, remains with Mercedes, continuing to lead the team as one of its top talents.

Before joining Hamilton at Mercedes, Russell began his F1 journey with Williams, having been part of the Mercedes junior driver programme since 2017. In a recent F1 YouTube video, Russell took fans behind the scenes of the moment he discovered he had earned his first seat in Formula 1.

The moment took place in Sochi, Russia in 2018. Russell recalled that it was a Sunday morning when he received the life-changing news. “I remember exactly the day when I found out I made it to Formula 1,” he said. “It was in Sochi 2018 — Sunday morning. The Mercedes manager called me and said, ‘Claire Williams wants to speak with you, I think it’s good news.’”

Following the announcement, Russell flew home that evening with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton, who would later become his team-mate. It was during this celebratory flight that an innocent mistake reportedly irritated Hamilton.

Sharing the humorous memory, Russell said, “I actually flew home with Toto and Lewis that night.” He then revealed, “I actually double-dipped the hummus, which Lewis wasn’t very happy about, so that was quite a funny story from the flight.”

The now-27-year-old laughed as he recounted Hamilton’s reaction. “He was like, ‘Man, what are you doing?’” Russell admitted that at the time, he wasn’t even familiar with the term ‘double dipping’ — a practice where someone dips a chip or vegetable into a communal sauce, takes a bite, and then dips the same piece again.

Though the incident was minor and played for laughs, it clearly left an impression on Hamilton, who was reportedly displeased at the time. While it’s now viewed as an amusing anecdote from the early days of Russell’s F1 journey, it also offers a rare glimpse into the human side of the sport’s biggest stars.

Ultimately, the story reflects the lighter, more personal moments behind the glitz and speed of Formula 1 — moments that fans

rarely get to see.
