Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has officially signed a new multi-year contract, solidifying his future in the sport and quashing recent speculation about potential retirement.

The new deal, announced today by Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, is reportedly worth over £100 million and will keep the British racing icon with the team through the 2026 season. Sources close to the negotiations indicate the contract includes performance-based bonuses and an ambassadorial role beyond his racing career.

Hamilton, 40, expressed excitement about the deal, stating, “I’m thrilled to continue this incredible journey with Mercedes. We have unfinished business, and I believe the best is yet to come.”

Team Principal Toto Wolff praised Hamilton’s commitment, calling him “a cornerstone of the team’s success and a relentless competitor.” The deal reaffirms Mercedes’ strategy to combine experience with innovation as the team prepares for the new regulations set to reshape the sport in 2026.

Hamilton remains one of the most decorated drivers in F1 history, with 103 Grand Prix victories and a global fan base. His renewed commitment suggests he still has his eyes firmly set on an eighth world title.

The announcement comes as a major boost for Mercedes, which is looking to reclaim dominance amid fierce competition from Red Bull and Ferrari in the current season.
