After a thrilling qualifying session at Imola, the final starting grid for the 2025 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix has been confirmed, with key penalties reshuffling the front row.

Oscar Piastri had originally claimed pole position for McLaren with a sensational lap, but a post-session investigation into impeding Carlos Sainz in Q1 resulted in a 3-place grid penalty. As a result, Lando Norris inherits pole position, making it back-to-back front-row starts for the Brit following his Miami win. Max Verstappen will start alongside Norris on the front row for Red Bull, having qualified third but benefiting from Piastri’s demotion.

Piastri will now start from fourth, behind Mercedes’ George Russell, who was also under scrutiny for crossing the pit exit line but avoided any grid penalty. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc retains fifth on the grid in front of young Italian Kimi Antonelli, who continues to impress in his rookie season with Mercedes.

Williams had a stellar showing with Alex Albon qualifying seventh, ahead of Carlos Sainz, who was the driver impeded by Piastri but did not receive any penalties himself. Yuki Tsunoda lines up ninth for Red Bull Racing’s second seat, while Lewis Hamilton, who had a lap deleted due to track limits, rounds out the top 10 in his Ferrari.
