Michael Jordan is joining NBC’s 2025 NBA coverage team to confront his OWN fans on their toxic ways of tearing down the game.

In a move that has captivated the basketball world, NBA legend Michael Jordan is set to join NBC Sports as a special contributor for its NBA coverage beginning with the 2025–26 season. This marks Jordan’s first formal role in sports broadcasting, coinciding with NBC’s renewed partnership with the NBA under an 11-year media rights agreement.

NBC announced Jordan’s involvement during its annual upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall, highlighting the return of the NBA to the network that broadcasted all six of Jordan’s championship victories with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s. Expressing his enthusiasm, Jordan reflected on the significance of NBC during his playing days, stating, “I’m excited about the NBA returning to NBC, recalling the network’s significance during my basketball career.”

Jordan’s role is described as “nebulous,” with initial plans for him to appear in pre-recorded segments during pregame and halftime shows. While live appearances have not been confirmed, NBC has not ruled out the possibility. This strategic addition aims to leverage Jordan’s iconic status to enhance NBC’s NBA coverage, which will feature 100 national regular-season games, a robust lineup of playoff games, and the NBA All-Star Game annually across NBC and Peacock.

Joining Jordan on NBC’s NBA broadcast team are notable figures such as Mike Tirico, who will serve as the lead play-by-play announcer, and analysts Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford. Studio analysis will be provided by former NBA All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Vince Carter.

NBC is also embracing nostalgia by bringing back the iconic “Roundball Rock” theme music and utilizing AI-generated voiceovers of the late announcer Jim Fagan for select segments, aiming to recapture the essence of the original NBA on NBC era.

Jordan’s return to the NBA spotlight through NBC’s coverage is anticipated to offer unique insights and perspectives, further enriching the viewing experience for basketball fans worldwide.
