Ferrari F1 Boss Fred Vasseur received SACK warning from E…read more
Former Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat has issued a strong caution to Scuderia Ferrari, warning that the team must demonstrate significant progress before the major regulation changes in 2026 take effect. Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Kvyat stressed that Ferrari cannot afford to carry their current struggles into the new era of Formula 1. If the team fails to improve in the next season, he hinted that substantial internal restructuring—potentially including the dismissal of key personnel such as team principal Fred Vasseur—might be necessary.
Kvyat’s warning comes amid growing frustration over Ferrari’s underwhelming performance during the 2025 Formula 1 season. The team has failed to live up to expectations and currently sits fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing behind dominant rivals Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren. This poor standing has sparked criticism from fans and analysts alike, particularly given the team’s prestigious legacy in the sport.
Ferrari, one of the oldest and most successful teams in Formula 1 history, has not won a Constructors’ Championship since 2008. The prolonged title drought has placed enormous pressure on the team to return to form, especially given the high standards associated with the iconic Italian outfit. The introduction of new technical regulations in 2026 is expected to dramatically shift the competitive dynamics across the grid, and many see it as a golden opportunity for Ferrari to reset and challenge for titles once again.
However, Kvyat cautioned that entering the 2026 season in a weak state could severely jeopardize Ferrari’s prospects. “You can’t afford to miss the mark with these kinds of regulation resets,” he said. “It’s a chance for everyone to start fresh, and if Ferrari doesn’t take full advantage of it, they risk falling even further behind.” According to him, the leadership must ensure the team is on the right development path now—before it’s too late.
Fred Vasseur, who took over as Ferrari team principal in 2023, has faced growing scrutiny as the team’s results have stagnated. Although there were initial signs of improvement in 2024, the current campaign has seen inconsistent race performances, strategic errors, and development issues, leading to questions about Vasseur’s ability to steer the team back to winning ways. Kvyat suggested that if Ferrari does not show signs of significant competitive improvement by the start of 2026, changes at the top might be inevitable.
The pressure on Vasseur and the rest of the management is exacerbated by Ferrari’s dedicated fan base and its status as the only team to have competed in every Formula 1 season since the sport’s inception. With that comes an expectation not only to participate but to compete at the front consistently.
As the 2025 season progresses, Ferrari will be under increasing scrutiny. Every race will be analyzed not just for short-term gains, but for signs that the team is laying a solid foundation for the 2026 overhaul. With other teams already ramping up preparations for the new regulations, Ferrari’s decisions in the coming months could determine their long-term future in the sport. If improvements aren’t seen soon, Kvyat’s prediction of internal shake-ups may come true, and Fred Vasseur’s position could be in jeopardy.
