Accusation Sparks Tensions: Red Bull Challenges McLaren’s…Read more

In a dramatic escalation of Formula 1’s 2025 season, Red Bull Racing has formally accused McLaren of breaching technical regulations, filing an “accusatory file” with the FIA concerning the alleged use of flexible front and rear wings. Red Bull contends that McLaren’s aerodynamic components may be exploiting regulatory grey areas, particularly after Oscar Piastri’s victory in Azerbaijan, where the rear wing’s movement reportedly mimicked the effects of DRS (motorsportweek.com).

McLaren has firmly denied any wrongdoing, asserting that their designs comply with all FIA regulations. Team Principal Andrea Stella expressed confidence that upcoming stricter deflection tests, set to commence at the Spanish Grand Prix, would not necessitate changes to their car. The FIA has initiated investigations into the matter, planning inspections at McLaren’s Woking headquarters to assess the validity of Red Bull’s claims.

This controversy adds to the ongoing rivalry between the two teams. Earlier in the season, Red Bull raised suspicions about McLaren allegedly injecting water into their tyres to enhance cooling—a claim the FIA investigated and dismissed due to lack of evidence (motorsport.nextgen-auto.com). In response to these repeated allegations, McLaren CEO Zak Brown has called for the FIA to implement measures against baseless complaints, suggesting financial penalties to deter unfounded protests (planetf1.com).

As the FIA continues its investigations, the tension between Red Bull and McLaren intensifies, with both teams vying for supremacy in a season marked by fierce competition and regulatory scrutiny.
