Breaking:Williams F1 Driver Opens Up About Awkward Moments Following Exclusive Screening of B…read more

Williams Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz shared his thoughts after attending an exclusive driver screening of the highly anticipated Formula 1 movie, which stars Brad Pitt and includes F1 legend Lewis Hamilton among its producers. The private viewing took place earlier this week in Monaco, ahead of the Grand Prix, and was attended by a majority of the F1 grid.

The 30-year-old Spaniard gave the film a largely positive review but admitted it had its flaws from the perspective of those deeply embedded in the sport. “I truly enjoyed it,” Sainz remarked. “I think for us F1 experts, we’re going to notice some things that feel a bit like Netflix—some Hollywood flair that doesn’t always align with reality.”

Despite the dramatization, Sainz acknowledged the film’s appeal to newcomers: “It will do very well for people who don’t know anything about Formula 1,” he said, highlighting the movie’s potential to broaden the sport’s fanbase.

While praising the overall production, Sainz joined a chorus of drivers who found parts of the film a little over the top. “For the hardcore fans, journalists, and us drivers, some scenes will seem a bit too American or too Hollywood. But overall, I think they did a great job creating an engaging Hollywood movie,” he explained. “Let’s wait and see what the general public thinks.”

When asked to elaborate on which moments he found particularly exaggerated or unrealistic, Sainz chose to remain tight-lipped out of respect for the filmmakers, citing his privileged position as an early viewer. However, he did confess that some scenes made him cringe. “There were just a couple of icks, but honestly not as many as I expected,” he said. “They warned us too—they said, ‘Guys, we love your sport, but this is Hollywood.’”

Sainz also teased a humorous moment fans should keep an eye out for when the film hits theaters on June 25, 2025. “There’s a scene that will make you laugh. It’s not on the grid—it takes place in a nightclub. I’m not in it, but it’s definitely one to watch,” he revealed.

In closing, Sainz emphasized that the film’s ultimate goal was to generate wider interest in Formula 1. “As long as it attracts new fans, then the project has done its job,” he concluded with optimism about the movie’s potential impact on the sport’s global popularity.
