FIA Summons Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari for Inspection Ahead of Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari SF-25 has been called for inspection by the FIA as part of routine procedures ahead of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion’s car was randomly selected for the pre-race display alongside Oscar Piastri’s McLaren and Carlos Sainz’s Williams.

The car presentation allows media and paddock personnel a closer look at selected cars before the weekend’s on-track sessions, which could be affected by forecasted rain on Friday and Saturday.

“In the case of adverse weather conditions, five minutes before the scheduled car display, teams will be informed that the process may take place inside their designated garages,” the FIA explained. “If it is raining during the display, cars should remain in position and be covered with awnings.”

One car from each team is typically showcased outside the garages during race weekends. If updates are applied to just one car, that vehicle is chosen for display. Ferrari debuted updates at the previous race in Imola, though neither Hamilton nor Charles Leclerc were able to capitalize, with Hamilton finishing P4.

While Hamilton’s car has been summoned, this is purely procedural. Neither Ferrari nor Hamilton is under investigation. A technical representative will be present during the display to ensure everything is in order. The same applies to Piastri, Sainz, and their respective teams.

Ferrari continues to struggle in low-speed corners — a disadvantage at Monaco, where the entire circuit demands such performance. As a result, the Italian team faces an uphill battle for a strong grid position on Sunday.

To add excitement to the race, which has drawn criticism in recent years for being uneventful, the FIA has introduced a mandatory two-stop strategy for all 20 drivers this year. While intended to shake things up, some drivers have voiced concerns over potential strategic manipulation.

With uncertainty surrounding the weather and Ferrari’s form, a standout performance from Hamilton or Leclerc may require nothing short of a Monaco miracle.
