FIA Announces Penalty Verdict for Lando Norris After…read more

The FIA has officially announced its decision regarding Lando Norris following a controversial incident during the Monaco Grand Prix. After an in-depth review, the stewards have determined that Norris was at fault for causing a collision with Charles Leclerc during a tight battle in the closing stages of the race.

The ruling comes after several hours of deliberation, with race footage and team radio communications thoroughly examined. According to the FIA statement, Norris has been handed a five-second time penalty and one penalty point on his super license for “causing an avoidable collision.”

As a result of the time penalty, Norris drops from P4 to P6 in the final race classification, losing valuable points in the Drivers’ Championship standings.

McLaren has acknowledged the penalty but expressed disappointment in the verdict, stating, “We believe Lando made a fair racing move, but we respect the FIA’s decision and will not be appealing.”

Norris, who had been showing strong form throughout the weekend, commented, “It’s frustrating, of course. Monaco’s tight, things happen quickly. I didn’t feel it was harsh at the time, but I respect the stewards’ call.”

The incident adds further intensity to the already heated mid-season battles, with the Monaco result likely to have implications for both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ title races.
