Aston villa plotting to sign an impressive player from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to a German newspaper, Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen is a target for Aston Villa.
He was a standout right wing-back for the Bundesliga team last season, scoring nine goals and dishing out eleven assists in 48 games. This season, he has added two more goals and three more assists to his tally.
The 22-year-old’s current contract expires in 2025, and in a report by Kicker about his contract predicament, Aston Villa is mentioned.
According to reports, the Netherlands international is expected to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga club that will keep him with the team until 2028, making him one of the highest-paid players there.
The publication also discusses the ‘high-speed footballer’ and Aston Villa’s interest in him, claiming that the Dutchman shouldn’t yet consider joining an ambitious Premier League team like the Villans.
Targeting the player appears ambitious on the part of Unai Emery’s team, and a prospective deal will only grow more difficult if and when he signs a new contract.
If Kicker decides to extend Frimpong’s contract, Leverkusen will undoubtedly have a greater chance of keeping him beyond this season.
