Head coach Dusty May has successfully retained a crucial asset from last year’s Michigan Wolverines team, as redshirt junior Will Tschetter has committed to returning to Ann Arbor. Tschetter made the announcement via a post on his Instagram account.

Standing at 6 feet 8 inches and weighing 245 pounds, Tschetter emerged as one of the standout performers for the Wolverines last season, appearing in 31 games with six starts and averaging 6.8 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. He also demonstrated versatility in his game, recording 20 assists, six steals, and three blocks. Notably, Tschetter showcased impressive shooting accuracy, boasting a team and career-high 51.9 percent from beyond the arc and 58.2 percent from the field.

After redshirting his freshman year, Tschetter’s sophomore season displayed signs of promise and development. Despite facing challenges with consistency in his three-point shooting, Tschetter remained committed to improvement, dedicating extra effort to refining his skills during the offseason.

Tschetter’s performance during the early stages of the season earned him recognition, ranking second nationally in field-goal percentage at an impressive 72 percent. His proficiency from three-point range, converting 13-of-20 attempts, further solidified his status as a valuable asset for the team.

Known for his versatility on offense, Tschetter has honed his skills in the post and demonstrated efficiency in his three-point shooting. His energetic playing style and leadership qualities have also made him a significant presence in the locker room.

As the lone returning player for new head coach Dusty May, Tschetter is poised to assume a more prominent leadership role both on and off the court. His relentless work ethic and dedication to improvement serve as a testament to his commitment to the team’s success.

With Tschetter’s return confirmed, attention now turns to the remaining scholarship players from last season, including Terrance Williams III, Jace Howard, and Nimari Burnett, who are yet to announce their decisions regarding next season. Maize n Brew will continue to provide updates throughout the offseason, including developments in the transfer portal.
