Christian Horner Dismisses Max Verstappen Exit Rumors as ‘Noise’ Amid Red Bull Turmoil

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner has firmly rejected speculation about Max Verstappen’s potential departure from the team, labeling such rumors as “noise” and affirming the four-time world champion’s commitment to Red Bull.

Amidst Red Bull’s struggles in the 2025 Formula 1 season, including a recent controversial incident at the Spanish Grand Prix where Verstappen received a ten-second penalty after a collision with George Russell, questions have arisen about the Dutch driver’s future with the team. The incident, which dropped Verstappen from fifth to tenth place, has intensified scrutiny on both the driver and the team.

Further fueling the speculation are reports of internal tensions within Red Bull, notably involving Verstappen’s father, Jos, who has publicly criticized Horner’s leadership and called for his resignation. These developments have led to discussions about a possible exit clause in Verstappen’s contract, which runs through 2028, potentially allowing him to leave if the team’s performance declines.

However, Horner remains confident in Verstappen’s loyalty, stating, “There’s been a lot of noise outside of the team, inside the team… Max reaffirmed his commitment yesterday. We’re focused on making the car faster, Max is part of that and he’s a committed member of the team. The rest is all speculation and hearsay.”

Verstappen himself has downplayed the rumors, expressing contentment with his current situation and emphasizing his focus on helping Red Bull overcome its challenges. Despite the team’s recent setbacks, including the departure of key personnel like design chief Adrian Newey, Horner insists that Verstappen’s commitment has never wavered.

As Red Bull navigates a turbulent season, Horner’s dismissal of the exit rumors seeks to stabilize the team and reaffirm its dedication to returning to form. With Verstappen currently third in the driver standings, the team faces the dual challenge of improving performance on the track and maintaining unity off it.
