Christian Horner Addresses Yuki Tsunoda’s Future at Red Bull Amid Performance Challenges
Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has acknowledged Yuki Tsunoda’s recent struggles but remains supportive of the Japanese driver’s development within the team.
Tsunoda, who replaced Liam Lawson after the first two races of the 2025 season, has faced difficulties adapting to the RB21 car. Notably, he qualified last at the Spanish Grand Prix, citing persistent grip issues and excessive tire wear despite multiple setup changes.
Horner commented on Tsunoda’s adaptation, stating that the driver is “finding his feet” and has provided valuable feedback aligning with teammate Max Verstappen’s insights. He emphasized that Tsunoda’s experience is beneficial for the team’s ongoing development efforts.
Despite the challenges, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has confirmed that Tsunoda will retain his seat for the remainder of the 2025 season, dismissing speculation about potential replacements.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season and Honda’s partnership with Red Bull concluding in 2026, Tsunoda’s long-term future with the team remains uncertain. However, both Horner and Marko have expressed confidence in his ability to improve and contribute meaningfully to Red Bull’s performance.
