Tensions ran high at Red Bull Racing after the Spanish Grand Prix, with sources revealing that Max Verstappen’s furious reaction to the race outcome disrupted the team’s planned post-race activities.
The Dutch driver, who finished outside the top two for the second consecutive race, was visibly frustrated with the team’s race strategy and the car’s lack of pace compared to rivals Mercedes and McLaren. Team insiders say Verstappen stormed out of the garage immediately after media duties, skipping the debrief and canceling scheduled promotional events.
“He was absolutely livid,” said a senior Red Bull staff member. “Max felt the team didn’t listen to him on tire strategy, and by the end of the race, he was just fed up. The atmosphere in the garage was tense.”
Red Bull had reportedly planned a celebratory team dinner and sponsor engagement in Barcelona, expecting a podium finish. Those plans were scrapped last-minute after Verstappen made it clear he wouldn’t attend.
The Spanish GP marked another setback for Red Bull, who are now facing increasing pressure from an improving Mercedes team and an aggressive charge from McLaren. While Verstappen remains firmly in the title fight, cracks are beginning to show within the camp.
Christian Horner downplayed the situation post-race, saying, “Emotions run high in this sport. Max is a competitor—he wants to win. We’ll regroup and come back stronger.”
But with more races approaching rapidly and internal tensions rising, Red Bull may have more than just on-track battles to worry about.
