Ferrari Eyes Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll Amid Hamilton Uncertainty

Ferrari is reportedly in quiet but advanced talks to secure a driver from Aston Martin, as doubts continue to grow over Lewis Hamilton’s long-term plans with the team. With Hamilton’s current deal running until the end of 2025 and no extension confirmed yet, Ferrari is said to be evaluating its options for a possible 2026 lineup change.

Sources within the Formula 1 paddock suggest that Ferrari is targeting Lance Stroll, the current Aston Martin teammate of veteran Fernando Alonso. Although Stroll isn’t considered among the top-tier drivers in terms of pure performance, his consistency, experience, and commercial appeal make him an attractive candidate for Ferrari’s future vision.

A senior insider commented, “Hamilton is a massive asset, both on and off the track, but Ferrari can’t risk being unprepared. They need a strong alternative if he decides not to continue.”

Hamilton joined Ferrari in 2024 in a widely publicized move after a long and successful stint with Mercedes. Despite bringing star power and renewed energy to the team, he has yet to claim a race win in red. As F1 looks ahead to the sweeping regulation changes in 2026 — which could reshape the competitive order — Ferrari wants to ensure they have a stable, adaptable driver lineup that can thrive under the new rules.

Stroll, while not a headline-grabbing talent, has shown solid racecraft and brings significant backing through his father, Lawrence Stroll, who owns the Aston Martin team. His addition to Ferrari would offer not only commercial benefits but also a degree of continuity and adaptability as the sport enters a new era.

Negotiations are believed to be ongoing behind the scenes, although neither Ferrari nor Aston Martin has issued any official comment. However, the timing of these discussions points to Ferrari’s proactive approach to contingency planning, especially with Hamilton’s future undecided.

Charles Leclerc remains the team’s long-term focus, but Ferrari clearly wants a second driver who can support their push for titles without disrupting team balance. Whether Hamilton stays or not, the Scuderia appears intent on keeping its options open as the 2026 season looms.

As the F1 driver market begins to heat up, Ferrari’s potential interest in Stroll marks the latest twist in what could become a major shift in the team’s direction.
