Breaking: Official FIA Statement Issued as Pirelli Announce New D…read more

The FIA and Pirelli have officially confirmed a new exclusive partnership that will see the Italian tyre manufacturer become the sole supplier for all FIA-certified Formula Regional championships starting in 2026.

Already the exclusive tyre provider for Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3, Pirelli will now extend its reach across the entire FIA single-seater ladder. As part of this expanded agreement, the company will develop a new 15-inch tyre to align with the updated Formula Regional car specifications set to debut next year.

While Pirelli currently supplies tyres for the European and Oceanic Formula Regional series, other regions have previously used different manufacturers—such as Hankook in the Americas, Dunlop in Japan, and Giti in the Middle East. The new deal brings uniformity to the global Formula Regional landscape.

FIA President Ben Sulayem: Levelling the Playing Field for Young Talent

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem praised the deal, saying:

“With Pirelli as our exclusive tyre partner, Formula Regional is poised to deliver exciting racing and a more level playing field across all championships. This ensures that young drivers, wherever they compete, have the same opportunity to showcase their talent.
This next step reflects our commitment to building a modern, competitive, and accessible pathway for driver development—combining technical innovation, cost control, and a clear progression from regional series to elite motorsport. It’s an investment in the future of global racing.”

Pirelli’s Marco Isola: Strengthening the Motorsport Pyramid

Marco Isola, Pirelli’s Motorsport Director, welcomed the extended partnership:

“We’re proud to be named the exclusive tyre supplier for all FIA-certified Formula Regional championships. This confirms our vital role in the single-seater development pyramid, supplying every level from grassroots to Formula 1.
It’s a strong endorsement of our technology, reliability, and ability to deliver tailored products for different stages of a driver’s career. We’re especially excited to return to the Macau Grand Prix, equipping both Formula Regional and F4 competitors as they take on one of the most thrilling circuits in the world.”

This strategic agreement represents a major step toward standardizing the development ladder in single-seater racing and reaffirms both the FIA’s and Pirelli’s commitment to fostering future motorsport talent on a global scale.
